Some information about myself and my family.
I have been married to my husband for 10 years. We have 2 beautiful kids. A 9 year old boy and a 3 year old girl. I also have a wonderful 17 year old step-daughter. I created this website to assist my family and I financially because my husband is disabled due to injury while working for the Dallas County Sheriff's office in 1998.
He has undergone over 21 surgeries and there are plans to have several more in the future. He will be in pain and be scheduling surgeries for the rest of his life. The Dallas County Sheriff's Department was taking care of all financial and medical issues until about 2004. They have refused to pay him disability pay and refusing to approve some medical procedures that his doctors have recommended be done.
Dallas County has spent an average of $6,000 or more a month on lawyer fee's to keep my husband from getting his work comp check which is only $1,500 a month. Every 3 months my husband has gone to court and the judge has ordered Dallas County to pay him his money. How stupid is that they spend more of the tax payers money fighting him then if they would just pay him what he is due? Jjust this past April 2006 Dallas County stopped paying him his work comp. So needless to say-- Dallas Sheriff Department does not care
about their officers.
My husband and I thought that if a officer was hurt in the line of duty they would be taken care of and have the support of the Dept. to get them through it. Boy were we wrong. After all the surgery's and what he's been through not one time did anyone from the Dallas County Sheriff Dept call, come by the hospital, send flowers, a card or even come by the house to see how he was doing. It's a shame that the Dallas County Sheriff Dept. does not think more of there officers than that. Dallas County sucks. Dallas County Sheriff's Department sucks when it comes to the treatment of there injured officer's.
I would also like to inform everyone that men can get breast cancer as well. My father passed away December 2004 at age 54 after a long battle with Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer runs heavily on his side of the family. There is a genetic test that can be done for families with strong history of breast cancer. Luckily my dad was able to get tested to see what the gene is our family has. I got tested to see if I have the gene and the test came back positive that I have the breast cancer gene as well. For more info. on male breast cancer go to www.malebreastcancer.org.
